Cotton, although it is a natural fiber, is indisputably one of the most polluting fibers in the world when it is not organic! It requires enormous amounts of water and energy during its cultivation and production and uses a lot of fertilizers and pesticides. Moreover, in 2016, 64% of the cotton grown was genetically modified!
